WHAT WE DO...

In the last thirty years, little information about dance in Afghanistan has been formally published. At the same time, there are a lot of amazing stories, blogs, videos, songs, and other information about it out there that the global community has passionately shared through multiple channels.

Through bringing all of those stories to one place and documenting dance’s story in Afghanistan, our mission is to make a space in which important discussions and ideas about Afghan heritage and identity can take place with a view towards supporting a positive, and strong Global Afghan community in the long-term.

HOW WE WORK...

Dance Afghanistan provides a platform through which you can submit stories, videos, photos and other information about your experiences with dance in Global Afghanistan. Your stories will help to build our Library, the most up-to-date online repository of information about dance in the Global Afghan community.

DA works mostly online so that no matter where you are in the world, you can participate in the conversation too. Feel free to comment on or ask questions about other story submissions too! We know that some stories may not resonate with you, or may even be controversial, but we feel it important to respect all perspectives expressed that abide by our community guidelines, which are basically just...

The Golden Rule - treat others as you'd like to be treated. We're pretty big on respect. If you're thinking about posting something that you would feel disrespected or offended by, then probably a good rule of thumb would be not to post. We trust you to make good choices. If you're not sure about something, feel free to write us anytime via the contact page, and one of the team will get back to you as soon as possible. In the off chance that we do see something that we feel is offensive, we will remove it.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Anyone with a story to tell! We recognize that in our changing world, Afghanistan extends beyond its physical boundaries to include Afghan community members all over the world.

If you feel you have a story to share about dance in the global Afghan community, we'd love to hear from you!

SHARE YOUR STORY!

Tell us about your favorite dance, a dance you saw one time at a wedding, a dance a family member might have told you about, or any other kind of dance you know, have seen, or have danced as a part of Afghanistan’s global community.

We’ve set up a form with a few prompts that cover some general topics we’d love to know about, and we've left some space for you to share any other thoughts that come to mind.

Once you submit your story, our team of moderators will review and post it to the Library as soon as we can!
