Waltz

"The Viennese Waltz" painted by Vladimir Pervunensky. Accessed via Pinterest.

THE STORY

I came to Germany in 1992, but I left Afghanistan in the mid-‘80s because I was sent with the Afghan government to study in Slovakia. I spent seven years there working and learning medicine, and then moved to Hamburg in ’92. When in Slovakia, I learned disco and Viennese Waltz and other ballroom dances through several months-long courses. My wife I met in the early 2000s when we worked together with the 9/11 stuff, and soon after we got married. We together then attended a few dance coursed and also went to discos to learn dancing together.
