SUFI DANCING DESCRIPTION
I think it’s important to understand dance in relation to the context of education. Rumi was a great poet, and his philosophical ideas are the foundations of a lot of music and dance. I think in order to get past the challenges that sometimes come up with religion, it’s important to find the spiritual importance of dance to make it okay. Turks, Pakistanis, Indians… they all listen to Rumi’s thoughts. Former Ambassador Ahmad of Afghanistan to the US is a Sufi – Rumi is very important to Sufis. Pairing dance with Sufism is very well respected.
